The 2024 Nobel Prizes in Physics and Chemistry have both been awarded to groundbreaking work related to artificial intelligence (AI), marking the transformative impact of AI on modern science. Whether celebrated or debated, the integration of AI has revolutionized how we process data and formulate hypotheses across various disciplines.

In this presentation, I will explore the fundamental breakthroughs that neural networks (Physics) and protein structure prediction (Chemistry) have introduced to their respective fields. By examining AlphaFold—a remarkable AI tool for predicting protein FOLDING structure—I will highlight both the advancements it has enabled and the challenges it presents. This includes discussing common misconceptions, such as the notion that experimental structural biology is now obsolete, and addressing the limitations that AI has yet to overcome.

I will also share my own efforts in enhancing data quality and modeling accuracy using AI tools, focusing on areas where traditional methods fall short. As we conclude, we'll delve into why and how AI has fundamentally altered data processing methodologies and spotlight recent trends in applied neural networks.

报告人简介

高昀鋆,2011年毕业于北京化工大学,2015年在中国科学院化学获硕士学位,2020年在德国马克思普朗克物质结构与动态研究所获得博士学位,学位论文获汉堡大学年度最佳论文奖。2020-2021年在德国维尔茨堡大学做博士后研究,2021年加入位于DESY的汉堡先进有机生物化学研究所,现任汉堡大学博士后研究助理。研究兴趣包括生物大分子及软物质体系相关之X射线方法学, 基于X射线的时间-空间分辨实验,大型科学软件及机器学习应用开发。
