Abstract:
Inorganic materials doped with RE ions have attracted extensive attention over recent decades owing to their wide applicability in phosphors, imaging, lasers and displays. In this talk, glasses and especially the corresponding glass ceramics are used as host materials for RE ions due to their easy fabrication, broad compositional flexibility, high homogeneity, well-controlled dopant concentration, and good optical activity for dopants. Firstly, tunable dual-mode and enhanced PL of mixed valence Eu3+/Eu2+ doped glasses and glass ceramics will be presented. Secondly, photoluminescence properties of heavily Eu3+ and Tb3+ doped multi-composition glasses as high-gain red-emitting and green-emitting materials for photoconversion, respectively, will be given. Thirdly, broadband NIR PL of VINi2+ doped nanocrystalline Ba-Al titanate glass ceramics from TiO2–BaO–SiO2–Al2O3 (TBSA) glass will be shown. Lastly in this talk, down-conversion based on Pr3+/Yb3+, Mn2+/Yb3+ and Bi3+/Yb3+ pairs will be presented.

Biography:
Guojun Gao, got the Doctor degree of engineering from University of Jena (Germany), working as post-doctor in Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT, Germany). My research focuses on novel multi-dimensional opto-electronic materials: chemical designs, novel synthesis approaches, structure-properties relations, and their photonic applications. I have published 30 SCI-indexed papers 20 as first or corresponding author. The total citation time is > 450; the citation without self-citation is > 550, H-index is 15. I got Chinese Government Self-financed Oversea Student Award in 2012. I am regular reviewer for wide range of SCI-indexed journals including: Chem. Soc. Rev., Inorg. Chem., Nanoscale, Opt. Lett., Opt. Express, Opt. Mate. Express, J. Am. Ceram. Soc., etc. More than 20 referee reports are written every year.
