题目:Design of phosphate optical glasses through their structure-properties relationships

  姓名:Dr. Francisco Muñoz

单位:Instituto de Cerámica y Vidrio (CSIC), Spain

  Abstract
This seminar will first make a short overview of the main characteristics of the glassy state, particularly concerning the theories that have been used to explain its structure. Then, the optical properties of glasses will be reviewed and, finally, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy will be presented as an important technique for the characterization of the glass structure paying special attention to its influence of the main properties of phosphate glasses.

    Biography:
Dr. F. Muñoz obtained a Bachelor degree in Chemistry by the University of Alicante (Spain) in 1997 and the PhD in Inorganic Chemistry at the University Autónoma de Madrid in 2003. He worked as a postdoctoral associate in the Universities of Rennes and Lille, both in France, and at the Otto-Schott Institute for Glass Chemistry of the Friedrich-Schiller University of Jena (Germany) under a Marie-Curie fellowship of the European Union. Since 2009 Dr. Muñoz holds a Tenured Scientist position at the Ceramics and Glass Institute of the Spanish Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid.
His main research lines are devoted to study of the properties and the atomic structure of glasses, glass-ceramics and the development of oxynitride phosphate glasses. Dr. Muñoz is co-author of about 50 peer-reviewed SCI publications and supervisor of two PhD theses, and was chairman of the technical committee on Glass Structure of the International Commission on Glass from 2011 to 2013.
