  Abstract: 

    

  Over the past few decades, laser, electron beam and arc provide different industries to economically improve manufacturing efficiency and produce products with novel properties. In this talk, several detailed examples are given for these kinds of their industry applications. Firstly, several innovative laser techniques developed by General Motors are introduced to address one of most challenges in the automotive industry: welding of zinc coated steels at zero-gap lap joint configuration. Furthermore, application of hybrid laser-arc welding in the aerospace is discussed to solve the cold cracking when welding of high strength steels. In addition, laser, arc and electron beam-based 3D manufacturing is also presented.  

    

    

  上陆博士,通用汽车中国科学研究院资深研究员, 华中科技大学兼职教授。毕业于美国南方卫理公会大学的先进制造中心和激光辅助制造中心。 2010年加入通用汽车全球研发中心。其研究领域主要集中在激光焊,激光远程焊,激光电弧复合焊,激光钎焊以及电阻点焊和先进机械连接。至今,作为主要研究人员已经成功地完成10几个来自美国国家自然科学基金,美国通用汽车,NASALookheed Martin Missile and Fire Control, Trinity, ESAB 等的科研项目。他和他的团队开发的激光电弧复合焊厚板成功应用于Lookheed Martin Missile and Fire Control的工厂。 此外,他和他的团队开发的一项激光和一项电阻点焊技术已成功应用和将应用于通用汽车全球的工厂。其在<<Welding Journal>>,<<Journal of Laser Applications>>,<<Journal of Material Processing Technology>><<Materials and Design>>等国际知名学术期刊和会议上发表30多篇文章,并获得3项美国专利,20多项pending patents  application. 2014年他被通用汽车公司授予”Individual Excellence”奖。2009 and 2012 他领导的 项目“Hybrid laser-Ultralight Steel Auto Body (ULSAB) Project” 被美国国家自然科学基金授于One of Industry Nominated Technology Breakthroughs of NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Centers”.
